Can We Start 2008 Over, Please?
Feb. 6th, 2008 08:44 pmThis morning I washed my hair, and managed to get a pea-sized blob of medicated anti-dandruff shampoo in my right eye. Stupid Lizard Brain made me blink, and Lo! There was much wailing, as the blob dissolved into my eye juices and started medicating my corneas. It took me a good twenty minutes to coax Lizard Brain into letting me open the eye to flush the fucker, and even then most of the frothy badness just slurped over into my left eye, rendering me largely blind for the better part of my morning.
This pretty much set the tone for my day.
Over the following 12 hours or so, I lost yet another member of staff (who is being stolen back to the store she came from for their Valentine's Day Rush) and my Thursday night guy bailed on me because he has to go and watch his aunt die of cancer. I really feel for the guy, since he was clearly distressed over the phone. I wouldn't dream of making him come into work at the moment, so I now have an 8 hour shift tomorrow instead of a 5 hour shift. The ceiling in the DVD room started leaking yerky oozewater all over my DVDs, and I recieved a substantial amount of stock that was ordered by Metal Manager like, a year ago, that we do not need and that is eating into the bulk of this month's purchasing budget, leaving me unable to afford a whole bunch of important and saleable stuff. In said stock were 36 leaky bottles of Ansell Liquid, which the observant among you will recall brings me out in welts. I discovered the leaky bottles with my hand. Then some dude traipsed gravel over my carpet. Then the guy I was really keen on hiring never showed for the interview. The fail continued with a bus that never showed, leaving me standing in the rain for 45 minutes before I declared it a lost cause and got a cab home, which is nowhere near as winful as one would think because it meant I didn't go by World Food Cafe on the way home, and therefore am without sushi. Also, I have a urinary tract infection. Thought you'd need to know that. Exacerbated by this morning's g-string, an unfortunate state of affairs brought on a total absence of clean knickers. Last time I did washing, the machines at the laudromat gave a less than stellar performace and most of my delicates were left in a less than delicate state. Being less than thrilled with this I picked up some new cheapies from Target on the way in, cheap knickers being an easy pick-me-up, but tucked in with the half-dozen so scanties were size 16 pair that some colour-blind cretin had hung on a size 10 hanger. Our staff problems may mean I miss out on going to Junket, the massive 3 day convention that our key supplier holds every year, repleate with parties and porn stars flown in for the occasion. Which will really, really bite, as it's in Melbourne this year and I was going to take three days off while I was down there just to chill with Tris and my Aunt Jen, who is crazy fun, and both of whom I miss terribly.
Usually this is the point in a rant where I shout "BUT!", then come up with a half a dozen good things to look forward to, but all I can think of at the moment is that I had
exaktica to blether at all day (and blether I did), and the bit where our suppliers sent us 12 bottles of Normans 2003 Encounter Bay Shiraz, a surprisingly old wine compared to the disturbingly recent white they sent for Christmas. Honestly, I'm a bit over everything at the moment. My run of fail has been surprisingly consistent ever since the shop flooded, so I can only hope that it's just about finished and I can get on with life.
Incidentally, I don't suppose anyone out there in LJ land with a size 16 booty wants a matching pair of soft cotton panties? I cannot be arsed taking them back to Target to swap, so if you want them they're yours. Pretty comfy style - t-shirt cotton with broad, fabric wrapped elastic, black with red trim or red with black trim, and a bug on one and the legend "Don't Bug Me" on the other. Purchased because that type is very comfy.
